The Bookish Owl – Season of Storms by Andrzej Sapkowski

Season of Storms by Andrzej Sapkowski

I’m currently reading Season of Storms by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Why am I currently reading Season of Storms by Andrzej Sapkowski, you ask?

Because the entire first season of the new The Witcher show will be released on Netflix on Friday! That’s more important than Christmas, you guys, and I need to get into the spirit of things. Season of Storms is the last in the book series the show will be based on, so it’s helping to build up the hype for me.

(Not that I needed any help with that. I’m basically vibrating.)

So, who else is watching the show? And if you are, and you’re already familiar with The Witcher, then what are you looking forward to seeing the most?

Season of Storms
by Andrzej Sapkowski

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, one of the few capable of hunting the monsters that prey on humanity. A mutant who is tasked with killing unnatural beings. He uses magical signs, potions, and the pride of every Witcher – two swords, steel and silver.

But a contract has gone wrong, and Geralt finds himself without his signature weapons. Now he needs them back, because sorcerers are scheming, and across the world clouds are gathering.

The season of storms is coming…

  1. I hope it’s good! I obviously have incredibly high (and some might say unreasonable) expectations.

    1. After the first few promo photos were released, I fully expected it to be awful, but after the latest trailers and teasers, I’ll admit that my expectations have skyrocketed again.

      1. Same here. After the first teaser I was like ‘wow this is going to be sooo bad’. But after watching the latest trailer I was like ‘this could be pretty good’…

        1. It’s also a good sign that it has already been renewed for another season.

          1. I will keep my fingers crossed.

            1. What did you think? I’ve only watched the first two episodes. The fight scenes are amazing!!! Brutal. I think so far I am mostly leaning towards liking it.

              1. I have a marathon planned with a bunch of friends tomorrow (a decision that does that I have to stay off social media until then!), so unfortunately I haven’t watched it yet, but I’m glad to hear there’s good fight scenes at least!

                1. Awesome. All eight episodes?

                  1. Yep!
I really liked it – I was actually surprised at how few complaints I had.
Mainly it was the ugly-ass Nilfgaardian armor, but I also think their attempt at making Yennefer more relatable made her lose some of what makes her Yennefer – meaning her furious anger at the entire world.

                    Everything else was great!
And “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” is ridiculously catchy and still stuck in my head.

                    1. Ha ha. Yes! It also occurred to me that the nilfgaardian armor could have been prettier. There were a couple of other really minor issues I had… but really as gripes go it was time constraint type issues where I thought some stuff felt rushed and story telling stuff where I felt they overly explained other stuff that didn’t need to be. But agree. I liked it. The character I’m most undecided about is… like you said yennefer… it’s a tough one.

                    2. That armor got wrinkles! Why does it have wrinkles?!
(I’m okay. Really. I agree with a lot of your other points. )
