SVScon, Get Ready!

Flowers are blooming, birds are singing… and I have absolutely no time to appreciate it!

I’m surrounded by boxes, some filled with books, some filled with costume parts, and I’m not even close to being packed and ready for SVScon tomorrow!

I already wrote that I would be going to the Danish convention SVScon back in February, so it really shouldn’t come as a surprise for me. Somehow, it still does.

I also promised that this year, I would finally take proper part in one of the best things at comic or game conventions: Cosplay. And I actually managed to get my costume done!

…Of course, yesterday, just two days before the convention, the wiring in my wristguards fell apart, so I will have to make a last mad-dash effort to fix it today, so I will still glow in the dark. In a fit of madness, I also let Skymone Cosplay talk me into participating in SVScon’s cosplay contest tomorrow, so it wouldn’t hurt to be a bit shiny when I faint on stage in front of hundreds of people.

Oh well, if I survive the swan dive Friday, you can find me in Artist Alley during Saturday, where I, as usual, will be selling books and posters! Just look for the red dragon lady with the big horns.

SVScon 2014 – Third Time’s the Charm!

And so, the preparations have started for my third round of attending the Artist Alley at the Danish convention SVScon.

This year the convention will be 2.-4. May, providing another weekend of weird people in costumes and no sleep. I can barely wait!

You will be able to find me in Artist Alley both Friday and Saturday, but unfortunately I won’t have any exciting new book this year. But if you still haven’t gotten a copy of Resounding Echo or Silent Sound, I’ll have made sure to stock up on both, so come around! And if you already got your books, stop by anyway for a chat(I get awfully lonely if no one comes to visit me…).

Some of you might remember that I promised to dress up as a skimpy dragon for Genki, and I know I totally let you down on that one. Fortunately for you, I have had the cosplayer Skymone breathing down my neck to get me to finish the costume and this time it looks like it actually might happen! *Knock on wood*

If any of you play the MMORPG World of Warcraft, you might know the character I will be portraying. If all goes well, I will be dressing up as the dragon Alexstrasza and Skymone will be joining me as her sister Ysera. Of course, in proper online game manner, armor really doesn’t have to cover much on females. Funnily enough, it seems that the less it covers, the better protected you are!

So, yeah… I’m going to freeze my ass off.

Koyocon – The Convention Madness Continues!

So… I haven’t really been to a convention in a while, have I? I mean, it’s been two months since the last one!

It feels like I just got home from Genki, but now I find myself packing up books to go to Koyocon. Luckily it’s only an hour drive this time!

Koyocon is a small Danish convention which will be held for the first time this year. I’m not sure how much there will be to see since it’s just starting out, but as it’s close to home I’ll take my chances. Not to mention, I know quite a few people behind the project, so I thought I would be supportive!

The convention runs from 8.-10. November and I will have a table all Saturday in the Artist Alley. As per usual, I will be selling books and posters, so you have the chance to bring home a shiny copy of Resounding Echo or Silent Sound.

Oh well… I got packing to do!

Genki, Night Elves and Defenestration

It’s Sunday and Genki has come and gone. I’m dead tired, but as usual I had a great time participating in Artist Alley, even if my friends managed to get me covered in super glue. Again. Seriously, guys!

I’ve been to quite a few of these conventions by now, three times as an author promoting my books, and I have got to know a lot of new people, so I met many familiar faces and made even more friends this time around. I was there with my friends Simone and Nina, both of whom are way better at promoting me than I am. Simone is the born saleswoman and if you don’t believe me, take a look at the post I’ll be putting up later.

Apparently, everybody is better at selling books than I am… Earlier today, a random guy came around my table and started promoting my books to passerbys. His only request was that I threw someone out a window in my next book. How could I say no?

Since it was a J-Pop convention, there was a lot of focus on costumes as well. Simone is a great cosplayer (see her Facebook page Skymone Cosplay) and she was wearing her Night Elf(World of Warcraft) costume during Saturday. However, she had some technical difficulties and apparently, my table was the best place to fix various broken armour items. Hence the super glue episode…

She looked great, though, and people was falling over themselves to take pictures of her. Check out the picture post to see some of the great shots!

All in all, I had a great weekend and even though I long to relax, I can’t really wait to sort through some of the pictures so I can post them here!
