Ghostly Scream – Excerpt (Chapter 17)

Seymour watched the magister leave before glancing at Selissa who had taken to scowling at the nearest wall. The look in his eyes suggested he didn’t quite know where to start.

“Should I be worried about you living with him?” he asked. “Angry peasants get into fist fights. Angry mages burn down cities.”

Ghostly Scream – Excerpt (Chapter 39)

“A few weeks in, and your apprentice already holds you in such high regard,” Rowan said. “It’s heartwarming.”
Feryll frowned at them. “How did I end up surrounded by angry women?”
Selissa raised an eyebrow. “Would you prefer angry demons?”
The magister hesitated, eyeing her warily. “I would answer that honestly, but I fear you’d punch me.”

The Bookish Owl – The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski

Owl The Last Wish Andrzej Sapkowski

So, I’m taking a short break from Discworld to indulge in some monster-slaying goodness!

I just started reading The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski (I will never not need to google the spelling of that…), which is the first book in the Polish book series the amazing Witcher video games are based on.

Not only do I adore the games, I also sort of signed up for this LARP event in Poland where I’m going to run around in a castle with a sword for three days, so I thought I would get a bit more into the Witcher lore before then.

(By the way, Artemis’ favorite Witcher character is Philippa Eilhart. I, on the other hand, yelled “Are you kidding me?!” when Iorveth was all, like, ‘follow that owl!’ in Witcher 2…)

New and Shiny Website!

Website screenshot design

Website screenshot design

After being slightly embarrassed about my old website for years – to the point where I rarely even bothered to update it because I didn’t want to be reminded of it – I finally got off my ass and made an entirely new site. And it’s looking damn good, don’t you think?

Making a new site does, of course, have something to do with me having a lot of big announcements in the near future and I needed a good place to display them all. There will be lots of pretties, so be sure to check in later!

But to get back to the site: It’s still in its early stages and I’m planning on adding content and making a lot of improvements to the design. But if everything goes according to plan, I might actually be a web designer who remembers to keep her personal site updated!

(Some of the old blog posts imported in weird ways, so just ignore odd formatting and misplaced images if you come across them…)

I’m open to suggestions for both content and design! Do you have any ideas for stuff I should post on the blog? Any subpages with info I should be adding? Or maybe you found a hundred and seven bugs in the layout that I have missed (it happens a lot…)?

Lay it on me!

The Bookish Owl – Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett

Carpe Jugulum Owl Book

I was asking myself, “How do I get more bookish content on my website without getting boring?”

Of course, considering my taste in pets, the answer should have been rather obvious, but you would be amazed how often I forget that people actually like owls… even more than they like photos of cats.

So I decided that I would try keeping the world updated on what I’m reading with some bookish owl photos!
(Artemis, of course, wasn’t about to make it easy for me, which is why the first photo is of a glaring owl lying on its back, refusing to stand up and pose for the camera…)

I have just started on Carpe Jugulum by the wonderful Terry Pratchett. It’s part of the Discworld series that I have been reading for a while now, but each book still manages to make me laugh.
This particular book is part of the Witches storyline, which is rather fitting, because Artemis looks a lot like I imagine Granny Weatherwax in this photo.

While not my favorites in the beginning, the witches have definitely grown on me. I think they’re even surpassing the Rincewind books in my eyes, but that might be because the Luggage isn’t getting that much screen time (…page time?) lately…

Any other Terry Pratchett fans out there?
